Do I need the Refresher Course?

It may be that some of you have an abundance of experience across all of the key occupational areas in which case it may not be essential for you to undertake this AM2 refresher course.
It may be that from completing the checklist that there are areas you have identified yourself as being under prepared in, in which case the refresher training is ideal. It must be noted that this is a 1 day refresher course and is therefore not suitable for those who do not already possess the basic underpinning knowledge skills and practical skills specified in the NET checklist.It is important that all applicants have completed the NET ‘Candidate Self-Assessment checklist’ prior to attendance and have completed all the work activities and a period of self-study across the range of exercises.

Occupational areas at a glance:

• Risk assessments and health and safety
• Safe isolation
• The interpretation of specifications, drawings and diagrams
• Planning and preparing to install, terminate and connect identified wiring systems
• Installing, terminating and connecting identified wiring systems
• Inspection, testing and certification
• Fault diagnosis and correction of electrical faults
• The understanding and application of industry recognised procedures, working practices and the requirements of statutory and non-statutory regulations.

Course content:

• Interpretation of drawings, diagrams and specifications
• Risk assessments, health & safety, safe isolation of electrical supplies
• 3-Phase supplies and selecting suitable protection devices
• Installing & terminating various cable and flex types and sizes
• Equipotential bonding to gas and water services
• Ring final circuit conductors & 2-Way and intermediate lighting circuits
• 3 Phase direct on line motor starter, S – Plan central heating system with a solar energy facility
• Carry out Inspection of installations, carry out sequence of tests – compliance with current BS7671
• Completion of industry certificates, schedules and documentation
• Fault identification and rectification procedures
